FKFP History
FKFP was founded by Dr Fariya Bukhari who works as a physician. Free Kissan Free Pakistan started out as a social media activism platform in the form of a social media campaign that was run by Dr Fariya Bukhari. However, due to increasing demand for grass-root humanitarian projects, Dr Fariya decided to register her vision as a non-profit organisation. FKFP is registered in USA & independently registered in Pakistan. It has worked nationally & internationally to raise awareness on the issue of Pakistani farmers’ economic slavery leading to dismal rural sector human development indices. In 2010, Pakistan was hit with a massive crisis of heavy floods that displaced millions of farmers. Dr Fariya formed a non-profit organisation SECCOON to deliver free medical aid to these flood victims. She did camps in southern Punjab, northern Sindh & Balochistan. She saw thousands of patients & worked with SECCOON for 3 years. During her experience, she realised that the core issue of these farmers was not healthcare but it was their economic freedom. She felt that until & unless she rescued them from a life of economic slavery, she could not change their lives for good. Thus, she started her campaign which evolved into the current humanitarian platform of free Kissan free Pakistan.
